The Hon. Rob Stokes MP, Minister for Planning and Public Spaces requested the Productivity Commissioner to conduct a review of the Independent Planning Commission and report back to the Minister by mid-December 2019. 

The Review examined, among other things, whether it was in the public interest to maintain an Independent Planning Commission and the operations and processes of the Commission in the State’s planning framework.

The Review was informed by assessment of similar bodies to the Independent Planning Commission in other common law jurisdictions and through consultation with stakeholders representing the community, industry and government.
